Bill and I were just talking tonight about the upcoming school year and his ability to carry Taylor on and off the bus. It is getting harder with each year. Our heart aches beyond words for her and we want to do everything possible for her. We have thoughts "Will she ever walk alone" ... "Should we be thinking about putting in a ramp?" ... "How hard will this school year be" ... "Should we be checking into getting her a motorized scooter" ... "Will she ever be any better than what she is now" ...
We love her so much and want so much for her and for life not to be so hard on her.....but it will. |

What is the latest prognosis for Taylor? Is she progressing as expected after all her surgeries? If not, why isn't she?
By the way, there is a 17 year old girl named Hannah Ferguson who does some work for us at my office. I've noticed she has some Park Christian information laying around, and may be a student there. I think she has CP, and she used the strap-on canes that go around your lower arm/wrist with a handle the hands can grip, on both arms. She has powerful arm muscles, but she gets around using that. When she _is_ sitting down, she pushes herself around on a chair, but for long commutes around the office she'll use the strap-on canes. You might want to consider that for Taylor, to offer her mobility that is more independent. Going to a scooter will cause her to lose muscle tone, etc.
